How to inform class of your blog site

Please post to Dr. Hadley's blog the URL of your blog site when you create it. You can use Blogger or a different blogging resource, but make sure it is publicly accessible and that you can complete all the assignments on it.

Final Project Overview for Fall Semester 2008

Your final project for the course will be to develop a mini-blog about a topic or issue that you are passionate about. The goals through the end of the semester are as follows:

Monday, November 10, 2008

(Pre-class)

  1. Identify a topic or issue about which you are passionate or care about deeply
  2. Describe why you care about this topic
  3. Identify and post links to five sites that address your topic (there is no need to describe the content of the links before class on Monday)

(During class)

  1. Create blog account on blogger (you can use nickname/pseudonym if you desire)
  2. Begin work on an initial blog post describing your topic, why you care about it, and including your relevant links. Weave your links into your post, giving your perspective on each. Complete this by Saturday, November 15th at noon.

Monday, November 17, 2008

  1. No live class this week
  2. Publish two new substantial posts (at least 150 words) on different days before Saturday, November 22nd at noon. Each post should link to and address at least one other site that is relevant to your topic. You should give your thoughts/analysis/opinion on each site to which you link, weaving the link into your post.
  3. Earn 10 extra points for embedding a video, photo, or audio into your blog, for a maximum of 40 extra credit points (through the end of the final project). Describe the content and relevance of the video, photo, or audio in the blog post where it is embedded.

Monday, November 24, 2008

(Pre-class)

  1. Contribute one substantial comment to the blog posts of two other classmates during the week before Monday, November 24th at noon. When commenting, include one link that adds to or counters the discussion in your classmate's previous posts.

(During class)

  1. We will display and discuss the status of our blogs.

Monday, December 1, 2008

  1. Add two additional posts to your blog, responding to any comments posted by your classmates. If you have no comments, each of your two posts should include a new link that is relevant to your topic. Due by Monday, December 1st at noon.
  2. Add any additional resources to your site you desire that help describe your topic (e.g., blog roll, podcast, etc.)
